Ambisonic pilot

2026 / 2027 · planned · events · technology · spatial sound

We are planning a special event that will be our Foundation’s programme debut. Working title: “Sound and Light Check” - a pilot project that brings together advanced technology and the raw emotion of experimental and improvised music.

Idea and approach

The guiding idea is a meeting between the world of new media and traditional acoustic sound. We want to create a space where sound is not just a backdrop but the main character, shaped by modern spatial technologies. This lets the audience become part of an immersive environment in which the line between listener and music blurs - an entirely new sensory experience.

Spatial sound

During the concert we will break past the limits of conventional stereo, surrounding the audience with sound from eight independent loudspeakers placed around the room.

To do this we will use a hybrid system combining two advanced techniques: ambisonics and VBAP. In practice, sound won’t just reach you “from the front” - it will literally inhabit the room. Ambisonics lets us build a full sonic panorama, while VBAP works like a precise brush, letting us move individual instruments and effects smoothly between speakers.

The result? Full immersion - you will hear sounds circling around you, passing behind your back and swirling through the air, turning the music into an almost physical experience.

Why this event is special

What makes “Sound and Light Check” special is its open, inclusive character. We bring ambitious experimental art together with easy access, offering an event open to a wide audience. The project is not only aesthetic but also social - it will take place in spaces that live and breathe culture every day and support their local communities.

It is an evening for everyone looking for new sounds, who values technical quality and wants to be part of a unique audiovisual experiment.
